· How a commission works

Four conversations and a few months of quiet work.

Roughly a dozen pieces a year. Every client hears back from me — not an assistant.

    A letter

    Write in with what you have in mind — a room, a measurement, a photo. A reply within a few days.

  2. 02

    Design & wood

    We sketch together, pull a slab from the rack, and agree on proportions. A 25% deposit holds your place.

  3. 03

    The build

    10–20 weeks at the bench. Photos along the way. You're welcome to visit the shop.

  4. 04

    Delivery

    Blanket-wrap freight, or in-person install within a day's drive of Lakeport. Final payment on arrival.

Trout Ranch is a one-person furniture studio in a converted barn outside Lakeport, California. It began in 2017, after a decade spent building other people's ideas.

Finishes are hardwax oil and, now and then, a rubbed wax. Nothing sprayed. Nothing hidden.
